Mathematics is an essential Chicago label founded in Chicago circa 1996 by Jamal Moss aka Hieroglyphic Being. It's catalog hosts major talent from the likes of Adonis and Steve Poindexter, it's genre spans Classic House / Acid House / Ambient / Industrial/ Techno.

Modaji - MODAJI LP

He leaves behind a long line of superb broken beat releases for his 2nd album, where he embraces a more R&B vibe. Fear not, the same careful attention to rhythm and craft are plainly evident & the addition of vocals gives the album more focus. A smooth out affair but still great quality.

Dominic Jacobson aka Modaji first started producing music in 1997 under the name Modaji with the release of 'Starbursts over Orion' on the Laws of Motion label. The track was conceived with the help of Phil Asher and Luke McCarty and as a result of this collaboration, Dominic joined the restless soul production team. More 12"s were to come on Laws of Motion such as 'Outboard Jeopardy' , 'The Latin Protocol' and 'The Lost Soul E.P', releases which garnered critical acclaim from the likes of Francois K, Derrick May, Joe Clausell and Gilles Peterson.
From 1999 until 2005 Dominic released three albums and a mix CD. First was the Presets LP followed by the Modaji LP and then a hip hop/soul LP under the Harvey Lindo moniker, entitled Kid Gloves released on the Japanese label, Planet Groove. In between these projects Dominic released the Obsessive mix CD on Sony to international acclaim. RIP.
